Entry 3 Rubric

The Vermont Rural Partnership (the VRP) is a network of 17 Vermont schools and their respective communities. This portfolio entry, titled Bringing School into Community, Community into School, describes and analyzes the work of the VRP through the lens of Entry 3: Deepening and Spreading the Work (See Entry 3 Directions and Rubric). The narrative is divided into four sections that correspond to the themes of Entry 3: Impact on Instruction and Student Leadership; Engaging the Community; Supporting Structures; and New Ideas, Resources, Connections. Within the text of the narrative, the portfolio team highlights several pieces of evidence. One of the most revealing pieces of evidence, which speaks to the spread of place-based education in the Vermont Rural Partnership, is Figure 1-1, which inventories 152 place-based education projects going on in 12 schools. The narrative is accompanied by an array of evidence that includes school portraits, teacher surveys, student interviews, community conferences and reflections, and reflections from the principals’ retreat.
