The students at Guffey Community School, in Guffey, Colorado, provide the only local news source for their community - Eye on Guffey, a quarterly news magazine. This portfolio entry documents the history and development of the news magazine project, through the lens of Student Learning and Contributions (see Entry 1 Directions and Rubric). The narrative portion of this entry tells the story of the project over several years of growth and then examines the contributions of three students - Savanna, Amanda, and Josh - to track their learning over two years of work on the project. The narrative also includes some adult reflections on growth and analysis of what has been learned overall in undertaking such a vital service to the community. The portfolio entry comes alive through issues of the news magazine itself, as well as many other student, teacher, and community member "exhibits" that illustrate the unfolding project.
